"You have plenty of time after retirement ...."
" Very free now ah..."
That's what people say to me most of the time.
Yes, " time" and "free" are aplenty, but it doesn't mean boring and redundancy. There is life after retirement.
One of the things I would like to do now is to visit old friends and acquaintances.
On Wednesday, November 28, my wife and I, accompanied by Anna as our guide, went to Bahau, Negeri Sembilan (100 Km from Kajang) to visit an old acquaintance Theresa Toh.
Theresa used to work and stay in Kuala Lumpur, and was an active Legionary then. She suffered loss of vision about 15 years ago and returned to Bahau to stay with her family.
The last time we met were at the funeral of Fr. Leo Chang three years ago.
She is staying with elder brother and sister, and was happy to "see" us.
From Bahau, we proceeded to Titi, a small town about 60 kms away to visit the legionaries at the Church of St. Augustine.
There are 3 praesidia (groups) in Titi.
Members are mostly elderly farmers and orchard owners. They worked hard but offered their limited free time to serve the community and the church.
We attended the meeting of Mother of Peace Praesidium at 2:00 pm at the parish hall.
One of the members brought some durians from her farm for us.
In the evening, we put up at Villa Stephanna at Pertang ... a farm owned by Stephen and Anna.
We met a Temuan tribe family who is helping Fr. Naden in his farm works.
Eric and Rino (both standard one students) are two cute boys following their auntie to the farm.
It is fruit season, plenty of Durian, Rambutan, Mangostine, fragrant coconut.......
Thanks to Stephen and Anna, we enjoyed our 2-day 1-night stay in Pertang.
