09/04/09 Thursday
Thursday is the first day of the Triduum. We, together with Catholics throughout the world, went to the church in the evening to attend Mass to commemorate Jesus' institution of the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist (The Last Supper) and Holy Order (Priesthood).
Today is also called Maundy Thursday because Jesus washed the feet of his 12 disciples during the last supper and gave them a new commandment (mandate): Love one another as I love you. The word "maundy" is an old English word derives from Latin word "mandatum".
After Mass, there was a continued Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament by the people until mid-night to stay with Jesus just as the disciples did on the Mount Olive before his betrayal by Judas.
The liturgy filled with tradition, symbolism and meaning . Jesus came to life during the celebrations, our faith is a living faith.
