A great missionary

I was in Sibu, Sarawak for the 90th birthday celebrations of Rev. Fr. Thomas Taam from 18/2 to 20/2.

He came from Xin Hui district, Guangdong Province of China. It is world renowned for its dry lemon peel (chen pi) and kui fan.

He was ordained a priest in 1954 after much difficulties and sufferings during his priestly formation years, including Japanese occupation and China Communist persecution.

His niece, nephew, niece-in-law and grand nephew came from his hometown to join this celebrations.

The birthday celebrations was divided into two parts:

1. Thanksgiving Mass on 18/2/2013 (Click to see pictures in Facebook)
2. 200-table Grand dinner on 19/2/2013 (Click to see pictures in Facebook)

It was a celebration befitting to an great missionary and faithful priest who spent his lifetime serving the Church and people.

My Sibu trip basically consisted eating, eating, eating and more eating ...

It was a great celebration !
