Sad loss 痛失

Reaching home safely at about 9:00 pm tonight from Kota Kinabalu. Safely home means a journey of 2 1/2 hours flight from KK and another hour of taxi ride from the airport (LCCT) to home. My wife has a phobia of riding airport taxi because of the bad experience last trip in September (Dramatic taxi ride).

Last night in Kota Kinabalu, I received the sad news of the passing of Rev. Fr. Mathias Kee (right) yesterday in Kuala Lumpur. We have visited him last June in Yunnan on our trip to Fr. Leo Chang's home village. He was suffering from bone cancer but appeared alright then.

He returned to Malaysia about three weeks ago due to the worsening of his health and stayed in the Little Sister of the Poor nursing home in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

He passed away on Friday 4:00 pm at the age of 81. His body was lied in state at the Holy Rosary Church in Brickfields for the parishioners to pay their last respect. Later tonight (Sat), his body will be transferred to St. Michael Church in Ipoh where he has served before. Funeral Mass will be held on 27th Oct and his body will be cremated thence.

He was a humble and kind priest who has contributed tremendously to the Malaysian Church and his home country China. He has helped to build a church and many other facilities in Yunnan.

It is a great lost for the Church in Yunnan and Malaysia, especially the Chinese speaking community. May his soul rest in Peace.
